2022 Qatar Masters

Craig Edwards @EdwardsTips_ previews the Qatar Masters for BetWithUs

Doha Golf Club

Craig Edwards has selected two South African players searching for their first European Tour win this week

After a couple of years at Education City, the Qatar Masters moves back to the Doha Golf Club where the event was hosted from 1998.  A track where length off the tee has often been an advantage plus an ability to handle the strong winds that can sweep across the course, especially late in the day.

BetWithUs Golf Betting Picks

Jacques Kruyswijk – each-way @ 100/1 (101.00)

Wilco Nienaber – each-way @ 40/1 (41.00)

Jacques Kruyswijk arrives in Qatar on the back of his most encouraging display of 2022 when he was 10th at the Steyn City Championship.  After a superb 2021, it’s been a slow start to the year from the twenty-nine-year-old from Pretoria.  Last year saw his world ranking rise over 200 places after his best-ever campaign on the European Tour.  His consistency once in form was eye catching so I expect him to improve this week with his confidence on the rise.  Interestingly, he has previous course experience at Doha Golf Club when not the accomplished player he is now, and noticeably he outperformed his form at the time to indicate the test here, suits him.  This week is the perfect week for Jacques Kruyswijk to make up for lost time this season and anything 80/1+ or above is worth an each-way investment.

The Doha Golf Club is back on the European Tour roster for the Qatar Masters after a couple of years at Education City.  Distance off the tee was always a huge positive at the track and no one hits the ball further than the young South African Wilco Nienaber.  Interestingly, the twenty-one-year-old made an impact here on course debut back in 2019 when in the fledgling stages of his professional career.  I’m not convinced that last week’s Steyn City Championship suited his long hitting like this week’s test, so a 10th place finish was encouraging.  There’s no doubt, the secret how good Wilco Nienaber is, has been out a while and he’s often priced prohibitively but at a track that suits 40/1 (41.00) is each way value about a player who looks bound to win soon.
