What a slate tonight! 26 of the NBA’s 30 teams are in action. I poured over the numerous matchups in NBA odds to find the winning Banker and 2 team parlay.
Philadelphia 76ers vs Cleveland Cavaliers
The Philadelphia 76ers are coming off a tough loss against the Denver Nuggets on Monday night. Philadelphia is in the middle of the dog fight between 2nd and 6th Place in the Eastern Conference. The Cavaliers are currently in sixth and looking to move up in the standings. To do so they will need to get wins such as tonight, a home game against a team that is ahead of them in the standings by two games.
Unfortunately for the Cavaliers, they haven’t been the same team since the loss of Jarett Allen. Allen will be out for the rest of the month. The good news is Allen should be back for the playoffs, making them a formidable opponent for anyone once again. The Cavaliers are doing their best to tread water and protect their position. The Cavaliers do not want to fall into the Play-In tournament. With Jarett Allen out, the Cavaliers are even more reliant on rookie sensation Evan Mobley.
I like the Philadelphia 76ers to bounce back after their tough loss. Without Allen in there, the Cavaliers do not have the size necessary to slow down MVP frontrunner, Joel Embiid. The 76ers should be eager to bounce back to protect their position after the tough loss. Darius Garland is a young up-and-comer, but James Harden will still have the edge when it comes to scoring in the clutch. Today’s Banker is the Philadelphia 76ers -4.
2 Team Parlay
Boston Celtics vs Golden State Warriors
The Boston Celtics have been in a steady rise up the standings. They’ve been playing the best basketball in the NBA as of late. In December, there were calls about trading away their stars and blowing this team up. Now they have made themselves a serious contender in the East. The Celtics are currently in fifth place and only three games out of second place in the East. It has been quite the turnaround for a team that had a befuddling start to the year.
The Golden State Warriors are happy to have the heart and soul of their team, Draymond Green, back in the lineup. The Warriors missed Green’s defensive intensity and leadership. Green will be on a minute limit, however, and will only play 20 to 25 minutes. The Warriors are not concerned with winning regular-season games. The Warriors have won multiple championships and know that the postseason is all that matters.
I like the Celtics here to keep things close and cover the NBA odds. Boston has been playing so well and they will put more emphasis on winning this regular-season game. As good as the Warriors are home this is going to be a tough test for a team that doesn’t take the regular season as seriously as an up-and-coming team like the Celtics. The first half of our team parlay is the Boston Celtics +4.
Chicago Bulls vs Utah Jazz
In the preseason I was down on the Bulls. For the first half of the season, I consistently had to eat my words as the Bulls continued to rack up wins. Now some of the flaws that I had foreseen for this team are coming home to roost. The Bulls lack rim protection from their big men and this can lead to too much pressure on perimeter players to avoid mistakes and defensive breakdowns. They are now over-reliant on playing excellent defense on the perimeter, and any breakdown can be brutal.
The Utah Jazz can definitely afford to have breakdowns on the perimeter of their defense. Rudy Gobert is in the middle, altering attempts and racking up blocked shots to change the way that teams attack the basket. The Utah Jazz don’t have the best perimeter defense but they have the best shot-blocker in the league. The Jazz also have an impressive array of three-point marksmen in order to run up the score.
This is a tough situational spot for the Bulls finishing up a road trip. Their most recent outing was a loss in Sacramento to the Kings. Now they head to Utah, one of the most notoriously difficult places to play in the league. The altitude in Utah is tough and fatiguing on road teams, especially athletes at the end of a road trip. The second half of our 2 team parlay at the Utah Jazz -6.
