The NBA has an action-packed 11-game slate for this evening. I’ve pored over the multiple games, run the numbers, and found the winning Banker and 2-team parlay.
Toronto Raptors vs Minnesota Timberwolves
The Toronto Raptors are coming off of a 30-point loss in New Orleans on Tuesday night. The Minnesota Timberwolves are coming off of a 126-120 win over the Charlotte Hornets. The Timberwolves played at a high pace in this game. They also suffered the loss of Anthony Edwards to injury during the victory. Now they turn around to host a Toronto team that should be eager to turn things around after one of the worst performances of the season.
An injury to Zach LaVine may move Pascal Siakam into the All-Star Game. Siakam leads the team with 22 points and 9 rebounds per game. Siakam started the season slowly, but as he has raised his level of play, the team has also started to win. It’s no coincidence that the increased output from Siakam is directly correlated to the team’s success.
The Timberwolves were lucky to get the win against the Charlotte Hornets team that has no idea how to play with the lead or play with poise. They will not be so lucky tonight playing against this Toronto team, which is much better coached and has players who are experienced in winning ballgames. Also, coming off a very high-paced overtime win, the Timberwolves should be suffering from fatigue. Today’s Banker is the Toronto Raptors + 2.5.
Utah Jazz vs Los Angeles Lakers
The Utah Jazz have been playing excellent basketball. The Jazz are coming off a 6-0 homestand. The Jazz are looking to do better on the road as they recently have lost 5 road games in a row, including a six-point loss to the Lakers in January. Yet the Jazz are playing much better now with Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert back in the lineup.
The Lakers signaled that they might be waiting for next season by forgoing the opportunity to be active in the trade deadline. The team has serious flaws, and the fit issues that people talked about before the season have come to be true. Russell Westbrook and LeBron James are not doing well on the floor together, and Anthony Davis is playing passively.
I like the Jazz to get a needed road win here tonight against a Lakers team that is definitely struggling. The Jazz have been playing better as of late, and I expect them to take their good streak into the All-Star break. The first half of the two-team parlay is the Utah Jazz – 5.5.
Portland Trail Blazers vs Memphis Grizzlies
The Portland Trail Blazers have been playing since the trade deadline when they turned themselves over to the youth movement. Anfernee Simons has been an excellent job leading the team since CJ McCollum has left. This new look Trail Blazers team plays with a lot of heart, and have won 2 in a row. They look much more energetic than when they were a bunch of veterans going through the motions before the trade deadline.
Memphis Grizzlies have been playing excellently, but they will be heading home after a tough game in New Orleans last night. I expect the Portland Trail Blazers to be able to keep it close and cover the double-digit points of NBA odds. Memphis is currently playing excellent basketball, and it is tough to go against them, but this line is about 2 points too high. The second half of the two-team parlay is the Portland Trail Blazers +11.5.
