We missed the banker last night, but we cashed the two-team parlay. Let’s go for the clean sweep tonight on a short 2 game NBA slate
Minnesota Timberwolves vs Golden State Warriors
The Minnesota Timberwolves is playing some of their best basketball of the season. After the 2-point win in Portland on Tuesday night, the Timberwolves have won four of their last five. In the win, Anthony Edwards racked up 40 points and is the youngest player to make 300 three-pointers in his career. Edwards’ maturation has been a dream come true for the Timberwolves. They used the number one overall pick on him last season. Edwards went from being a strong Rookie of the Year contender last year to looking like he could be an MVP candidate by next year if he continues this level of development.
The Warriors are coming off a strong win against the Dallas Mavericks and have an excellent home record. However, I still don’t necessarily think this team is at the same level without Draymond Green. This game features former teammates in a trade that changed the trajectory of both franchises. The Timberwolves were able to add D’Angelo Russell and the Warriors got Andrew Wiggins and the first-round pick the turned into Jonathan Kuminga. Anthony Wiggins has played the best basketball of his career and is now a key piece to the Warriors, especially on the defensive end. D’Angelo Russell’s leadership is turning the Timberwolves from a lottery team into a potential playoff team. Jonathan Kuminga looks to end up being a star. This is an interesting subplot to follow during the course of the game this evening
Even though the Warriors got it done against the Mavericks the other night, I do believe the Timberwolves can keep a close here. Tonight’s Banker is the Minnesota Timberwolves +6.
Philadelphia 76ers vs Los Angeles Lakers
The Philadelphia 76ers can attack the Los Angeles Lakers better than most teams in the NBA. Philadelphia 76ers Center Joel Embiid is playing at an MVP level, averaging 33.3 points per game in the last 17 games. This is a key factor in tonight’s game against Los Angeles Lakers.
The Lakers were pleased with the return of Anthony Davis. Davis helps the Lakers return to their identity as a defensive-minded team. LeBron James put up great numbers during Davis’ absence, but he will be glad to have someone to share the burden with. The Lakers have played their best with either Anthony Davis or Lebron James at the five. This will not be possible tonight against Joel Embiid. This will make defending the Lakers a lot easier because their offense is much easier to shut down with Dwight Howard or DeAndre Jordan on the floor.
The 76ers can force the Lakers to play their inferior lineups so they’ll be able to punish them. I like the Sixers in this matchup to get it done against the Lakers. The first half of the two-team parlay is the Philadelphia 76ers – 1.5
I also like the under in this game. I believe will be a deliberate pace. The slower pace will show how seriously both teams will take the game. The Lakers do tend to play slow especially with a center on the floor. The second half of the two-team parlay is the under 220.5.
