NBA Betting Picks for 1/26/22 Banker and Parlay

By @SpreadAstaire

We have an exciting night of NBA action on tap. The season continues to evolve with certain teams rising towards the top and certain teams continuing to disappoint. With all this in mind, let’s find the winning Bank and 2-team parlay.

Dallas Mavericks vs Portland Trail Blazers

I was excited about the Maverick chances of last night against the Warriors with the way they had been playing. The Mavericks ran out of gas in the 4th quarter and now face a tough road trip up to Portland to take on the Blazers. The Blazers are coming off a disappointing loss as well. The Blazers had the game against the Timberwolves in hand but ended up falling by two points.

The Mavericks lost more than the game. Tim Hardaway Jr has broken his foot in the game against the Warriors. This is a tough loss for the Mavericks because he’s one of the best shooters on Dallas. Dallas will need players to step up and knock down open three-point shots to give star guard Luka Doncic space to work.

Despite the loss, the Portland Trail Blazers have been playing better as of late. Despite the loss, the Blazers have won 6 of their last 9 games. The Blazers better play coincides with the resurgence of Jusuf Nurkic. Nurkic started off the season slowly and was ineffective, but he has returned to his level of play to a higher level. This is key because Dallas struggles against big men. Kristaps Porzingis does not have the strength to keep up with a center such as Jusuf Nurkic. I expect Portland to be able to attack this mismatch and take advantage of a tired team. Both teams played high-paced games last night, but Dallas had to travel while Portland stayed at home. Portland gets the ability to wash the bad taste out of their mouth from last night’s loss against the Dallas Mavericks tonight.

I like Portland to bounce back against the tired Dallas team tonight. I don’t expect Portland to get blown out, so the 4.5 points of NBA odds is far too much. Both teams played high-paced games last night, but Portland got to stay at home while Dallas had to hit the road and travel. Portland has a good opportunity and I believe they’ll take advantage of it. Tonight’s Banker is the Portland Trail Blazers + 4.5.

2 Team Parlay

Phoenix Suns vs Utah Jazz

Why wouldn’t we go back to the team in the NBA with the best record? The Phoenix Suns continue to dominate, and they will be facing a Utah Jazz team without their defensive leader Rudy Gobert. We have seen how bad the Jazz look without Gobert. Phoenix is not a team you want to become playing again without your defense on point. The Suns just continue to win and are currently playing the best basketball in the NBA.

Until the Jazz get Rudy Gobert back in the lineup, I’m going to have trouble betting them against the NBA’s top teams. This will be the case again tonight. we will take the Phoenix Suns as a short road favorite. The first half of our 2-team parlay is the Phoenix Suns – 4.

New York Knicks vs Miami Heat

The New York Knicks have not been playing defense the way their coach Tom Thibodeau would like. This is in direct contrast to the Miami Heat, who are one of the best defensive teams in the league. The Knicks have struggled on only one day of rest going 12-19 on the year. The Heat are 8-0 with more than two days rest, which is the case tonight.

Miami has so many advantages in the matchup but most particularly is the style matchup. Both teams are led by their defensive intensity, but Miami plays defense better. They also have better options to score against a good defense in the half-court. Right now, Miami is simply the more talented team that implements their game plan better. The second half of the two-team parlay is a Miami Heat -6.5.
