There are only two games in the Association tonight. It does not matter. Two games are all we need to make a winning Banker and 2-team parlay.
Minnesota Timberwolves vs New York Knicks
The New York Knicks are coming off a disappointing Martin Luther King Day performance in which they put up only 87 points in a loss to the Charlotte Hornets. The flat performance ended a three-game winning streak for the Knicks. The Knicks will be eager to bounce back at home against the Timberwolves today.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have been playing well of late. They have won three of their last five, including a 119–99 win at home versus the Warriors. Now they take to the road. The key to the Timberwolves recent success has been health. After missing time with injuries and covid protocols, the team finally has their starting five back and the results have been exemplary. The Timberwolves have one of the highest net ratings for a starting five of any team in the NBA.
I like the Timberwolves to get it done here against New York. The Knicks are struggling with their identity. They’re not the defensive juggernaut they were last year. The Knicks offense will have problems keeping pace with a high-powered Timberwolves offense. Minnesota just simply has too many ways to attack this Knicks defense. Today’s Banker is the Minnesota Timberwolves -3.
Golden State Warriors vs Detroit Pistons
My strategy for Pistons games is very simple. Definitely consider taking them at home as they have performed much better there. Yet they are an awful 3-18 on the road, with a point differential of -14.8. This isn’t uncommon for young teams, as the home crowd gets them pumped up. They often times looked discouraged and lethargic on the road, especially when facing constant double-digit deficits. The reality of the NBA is that some teams tank and some teams are Championship contenders. So sometimes, we have to lay more points than we are accustomed to. In this case, that is the correct way to approach this game. The Pistons are averaging getting beat by an average of 15 points on the road by average teams, the Warriors are one of the NBA’s best. The first half of the two-team parlay is the Golden State Warriors -15.
We will have to look at the total on this game as well to make the parlay. 217.5 seems low number for a Golden State Warriors game, but I do think the Pistons will have problems scoring. Andrew Wiggins should be a strong defender on the Pistons engine to their offense, Cade Cunningham. I would not be surprised to see the Pistons score less than 95 points tonight, in which case the under will cash easily. The second half of the two-team parlay is under 217.5
