NBA Betting Picks for 1/4/22 Banker and Parlay

By @SpreadAstaire

The NBA has shorter slates on Tuesdays and Thursdays in order to showcase certain matchups. While there are fewer options tonight, that doesn’t mean that we can’t find the winners. After searching the NBA odds, I found the winning Banker and 2 Team Parlay.

Phoenix Suns vs New Orleans Pelicans

The Pelicans played the first half tough against the Jazz last night, before falling and barely failing to cover the double-digit point spread. Now they face a Phoenix team, which on the surface seems as good as Utah. But Utah is at close to full strength while Phoenix is missing multiple players, potentially their best 3 big men. JaVale McGee will miss the game. Jae Crowder and DeAndre Ayton are game-time decisions.

Phoenix’s lack of size will be attacked by Jonas Valanciunas, who recently returned to the lineup for the Pelicans. Brandon Ingram has been dealing with an Achilles injury, but he looked pretty good against the Jazz and is not on the injury report. As good as Phoenix is, the Pelicans will be able to attack their weakness caused by injuries and protocols.

New Orleans is being downgraded in the NBA odds because of the B2B, but in this case, Phoenix could be the team with more conditioning issues if players return. If the players sit out, it will be even better for New Orleans and Jonas Valanciunas. Today’s banker is the New Orleans Pelicans +7.

2 Team Parlay

San Antonio Spurs vs Toronto Raptors

The Toronto Raptors are finally at full strength and the results are evident. After struggling to acclimate to life without Kyle Lowry, the Raptor suffered injury issues. Now for the first time they are healthy and body and mind. The Raptors are finally at full strength and have also forged a new team identity.

This has been on display recently with the Raptors winning by 8 points at home against Los Angeles and then by 15 against New York. The Raptors stadium is currently empty, and while the lack of fan support is a detriment, the travel to Canada is still part of the home-court advantage.

The San Antonio Spurs have been weakened by covid and injuries recently. They will be missing Dejounte Murray, Lonnie Walker, and Doug McDermott. The Spurs have definitely felt the loss of Murray, and his teammates have not been able to absorb his absence.

I like Toronto to get it done by margin at home. This is the best they have played all season. I believe the NBA odds undervalue the Raptors due to the inordinate amount of time they have spent at less than full strength. We will take advantage of this misevaluation on the Raptors and make them the first half of our 2-team parlay.

New York Knicks vs Indiana Pacers

The Pacers are another team that has been rocked by covid. Tonight, they will be missing multiple players in the backcourt. The Knicks have struggled this season but are not as decimated as the Pacers are. The Pacers will be playing young inexperienced guards. The Knicks defensive intensity should cause the Pacers plenty of problems. The New York home crowd will give the Knicks a boost.

The NBA odds are close, this game is basically “pick the winner”. With the Pacers missing so many players, it’s hard to back them at this juncture of the season. I believe the Knicks get it done. The second of the two-team parlay is the New York Knicks -1.5

Parlay: Toronto Raptors -5.5 / New York Knicks -1.5 at +265 (3.65) at BetUS
