Well, you got to give me credit, when I drop my Bankers! I do them in a memorable fashion. The Celtics shot 4-42 from 3. That was definitely not something I expected. At least we hit the Parlay to have a winning night! We continue the winning week with today’s NBA picks.
Philadelphia 76ers vs Brooklyn Nets
Kevin Durant is back for the Nets in the NBA odds properly reflect that. The Nets played well with Durant out, but they will be glad to have their leader back on the floor. Philadelphia continues its season of inconsistency. At 18-16, they aren’t playing badly, but they definitely had higher hopes than being a middle-tier team in the East.
Joel Embiid has a great matchup tonight, but I don’t think he can carry the team completely against the firepower of Harden and Durant. While Durant’s absence was tough for the team, it did allow Harden to get a chance to go back to the iso, hero ball that he played in Houston. It allowed Harden to get himself back into shape and build his confidence with the many reps of carrying the offense. With both superstars back in the lineup, and Harden playing the best he has all season, I expect we’re going to see one of the best versions of the Nets that we have seen so far this season.
Both teams know that this is a big game, but I trust Brooklyn much more. I don’t trust Joel Embiid’s conditioning to keep pace with the Nets dynamic duo for the full four quarters. Today’s Banker is the Brooklyn Nets -5.
The Milwaukee Bucks beat Orlando by 17 on Tuesday night and I see no reason to think that the Magic have any adjustments to make this game closer. Yes, we do have to worry about a letdown spot here for the Bucks, but traditionally, this is a team that gets up for all of their games. This is evidenced by their lofty point differential the last 3 seasons. The point differential is not as high this year, but they’ve also not been healthy.
This fully healthy Bucks team is a juggernaut and going against one of the worst rosters in the league in the Orlando Magic. Magic forward Franz Wagner had one of the best games of his career in the last game, and it still wasn’t even close. Barring a complete letdown from the Bucks I don’t see any way they do not cover. The first half of our 2-team parlay is Milwaukee Bucks -14.
Cleveland Cavaliers vs Washington Wizards
The Cavaliers suffered a crushing blow as they lost Ricky Rubio for the season with a torn ACL. Rubio’s veteran leadership meant so much to the team’s turnaround and it will be interesting to see how they look without Rubio guiding the team. The injury could not have come at a worse time with Darius Garland already out. The Wizards should be able to take advantage of the situation, with the Cavaliers missing a true point guard tonight. The Wizards have had their own struggles, but this should be a nice opportunity for them to bounce back.
The Wizards fell apart and lost late in the game to the Pelicans when Rubio was injured. I think without the lack of direction, the Cavaliers could struggle for a while. The second half of my 2-team parlay is the Washington Wizards – 3.5
