NBA Betting Picks for 12/23/21 Banker and Parlay

By @SpreadAstaire

We had a bit of bad luck yesterday as the banker was canceled. These are things that we have to contend with when capping the NBA right now, as these injury report reads like like a lengthy chapter from War and Peace. We had to break out the college scouting reports today as a lot of these players do not have a lot of experience at the NBA level. We will not be deterred however, and will find the winning Banker in 2 team parlay

Memphis Grizzlies vs Golden State Warriors

Memphis Grizzlies are always a tough challenge for the Golden State Warriors. The Grizzlies have a strong contingent of wing defenders they can make things tough on the Warriors star guards. The Grizzlies also have the good sense of when to attack the Warriors in the middle, where their defense is often the weakest. The Grizzlies were able to eliminate the Warriors from playoff contention last season. In that game, Ja Morant cemented his status as an up-and-coming star by getting it done on the big stage against a experienced, high-level team. Morant is a tough matchup for a Warriors lineup missing Klay Thompson. The Warriors rely on him to be their stopper on electric point guards. The Grizzlies will need a big night from Morant, but they most likely will get it.

The Warriors have been hit with a small covid outbreak and they will be missing Andrew Wiggins, Damion Lee, and Jordan Poole this evening. This will weaken the perimeter defense and allow Ja Morant and Dillon Brooks to have big night. Jaren Jackson and Steven Adams should also be able to attack the Warriors in the middle, so I expect the Grizzlies to have a big offensive night. The Warriors will be highly reliant on Steph Curry to have a big night this evening. While that is always the case, I do believe that the Grizzlies can keep this game close and cover the NBA odds of six points. Today’s Play of the Day is the Memphis Grizzlies +6.

Banker: Memphis Grizzlies +6 at -110 (1.91)

2-Team Parlay

Charlotte Hornets vs Denver Nuggets

The Nuggets were quite disappointing last night but I am expecting them to get things back on track this evening. Neither team has a Christmas Day game, so there’s no reason for them to not sell out to win tonight with the three-day break upcoming. As things took a turn for the worse last night, the Nuggets started resting their starters in preparation for tonight’s game. Charlotte is one of the best teams in the league at defending big men and Nikola Jokic is the best of the best of big men. We have a great bounce back spot for the Nuggets. The first half of the two-team parlay is the Denver Nuggets -2.5.

Atlanta Hawks vs Philadelphia 76ers

Much will be made of the Atlanta Hawks depleted roster as they’re missing their top players and Trae Young and Clint Capela. The loss of Capela is huge in this matchup, because this leaves the Hawks with no one to provide a tough matchup for Joel Embiid. Still I’m not impressed with the Sixers this season, and their ability to protect big leads, especially in the fourth quarter. Teams often take on the identity of their leader, and with Embiid’s lack of conditioning, often times has team fades in the fourth. Even when they win the game they often do not cover large point spreads such as these. The 10 points of NBA odds is too much, even for the depleted Atlanta Hawks roster. The second of the 2 Team Parlay is the Atlanta Hawks + 10.

Parlay: Denver Nuggets -2.5/Atlanta Hawks + 10 at +265 (3.65) at BetUS
