We ended the week right, cashing both the banker and the two-team parlay. Let’s start the win this week in the same winning fashion. I scoured the NBA odds, here are the winning NBA picks
Houston Rockets vs Chicago Bulls
The Houston Rockets were an ATS darling for a little bit as they had a nice winning streak. Unfortunately for the Rockets fans, they seem to have regressed to the mean and have not performed well as of late. A win over the Pistons notwithstanding, this Houston team definitely struggles with consistency.
Chicago came back from covid protocols with a strong win over the Los Angeles Lakers. Chicago hung tough in the win and I’m not concerned about the back-to-back after their lengthy layoff. DeMar DeRozan’s return to the spotlight has been quite fruitful for Chicago and he has been a much better addition to the Bulls than most, including myself, expected.
This game will be rough for Houston as they can’t defend very well while Chicago defends at a high level. The defense will be the difference in this game and Chicago will be able to get stops when needed to go on big runs. Chicago did get a bit of rest and after knocking the rust off against the Lakers, they should be back to the high-quality team that they displayed before covid decimated the roster. Today’s banker is the Chicago Bulls – 8.
Charlotte Hornets vs Utah Jazz
The Charlotte Hornets looked poor against the Phoenix Suns last night and I expect the same this evening going against the best in the West. The Jazz are coming off two consecutive losses and should be motivated to get the win. Charlotte does well when playing at home and against the Eastern Conference, but against the best of the West, they simply cannot compete, as shown by the results last evening. Charlotte was a dreadful 10-45 from behind the arc on Sunday. It’s hard to fathom how a trip to Utah playing in the altitude will lead to improved shooting.
It is a tough stretch of the schedule for Charlotte and I’m happy to fade them until they get back home and get some rest. The first half of the two-team parlay the Utah Jazz -12.
Oklahoma City Thunder vs Memphis Grizzlies
Memphis is another team in a tough scheduling spot. They’ve been playing three games in the last four nights. The Thunder are coming off two extra close games which came down to buzzer-beaters. Against New Orleans, they lost on a 61 ft shot by Devonte Graham. But their buzzer-beater was successful against the Clippers on Saturday night. After 2 exciting games, this could be a fatigued team as well.
I think 2 tired teams will have problems with their jump-shooting and this should lead to a low-scoring game. While some are looking to grab the points with the Thunder, I cannot yet trust this team. Therefore, I think the under is the much smarter play. The second half of the two-team parlay is the Oklahoma City Thunder/Memphis Grizzlies under 212.5.
