We cashed another Banker last night and look to end the week right with more winning picks. I pored over the NBA odds to find a winning banker and winning 2 team parlay.
Los Angeles Lakers vs Minnesota Timberwolves
The Lakers are coming off a three-point overtime win against the Dallas Mavericks. I did not think it was a good sign for the Lakers to go life and death with a Dallas Mavericks team that was missing their best player and heartbeat of their team Luka Doncic. In the game against Dallas, the Lakers had all three of their stars playing. That will not be the case tonight as Russell Westbrook and Avery Bradley are joining Malik Monk, Dwight Howard, and Talen Horton Tucker in covid protocols.
The Timberwolves we looking for that third straight win after a decisive victory over the Denver Nuggets. Anthony Edwards finished with 38 points including 10 3-pointers. Edwards is a rising star and one of my favorite players, yet the key to the Timberwolves has been the play of D’Angelo Russell. Russell’s improved defense and on-court leadership have been the difference for the Timberwolves team this season that is finally making a push towards respectability.
I will be fading the short-handed Lakers team coming off an overtime win against a young team in Minnesota that is playing with poise and has momentum. Karl Anthony Towns and Anthony Davis are good friends, and they often have big games against each other, looking for bragging rights. Towns will be the owner of those bragging rights after tonight because the Minnesota Timberwolves are tonight’s Banker.
San Antonio Spurs vs Utah Jazz
The Jazz are flying under the radar, but they are the best team in the NBA currently. They have a point differential of +11.5, which, in no surprise, is the line for tonight’s game. With the game spread being lined correctly we will look for the total to find our edge. The Jazz have been playing up-tempo with excellent offensive efficiency. In their last four games, they have scored 124, 123, 118, and 136. They are now up against the Spurs team that has struggled offensively and gave up 131 points and 127 points to the Hornets and the Nuggets. The Spurs have switched to developing young players, and young players often struggle on the defensive end, earning the ire and frustration of Spurs coach Gregg Popovich.
I believe the over is the correct play here we should see a high-paced game in Utah with two teams that are efficient offensively. The first half of the 2-team parlay is over 225.
Atlanta Hawks vs Denver Nuggets
This game should be a battle of offensive manner masterminds as Trae young and Nikola Jokic lead their respective teams. Both teams are struggling with injuries right now and have become more reliant upon their superstars. This gives us a slight edge because while Trae young is evolving into one of the best players in the league, Jokic is the reigning MVP and currently is playing like the best player in the league. I believe this game will be close and Jokic’s superiority will shine through. The second half of the two-team parlay is the Denver Nuggets +4.
