I had trouble navigating the short slate last night, but this Wednesday night slate is packed with action and offers plenty of opportunities for redemption. I’ve gone through the NBA odds. I’m ready to give out winning NBA picks with my Banker and 2 Team Parlay.
Dallas Mavericks vs Memphis Grizzlies
The Mavericks are coming off a tough primetime loss at home where they blew a 17-point lead to the Brooklyn Nets and fell 102-99. The loss was Dallas’s 5th Street home loss. Now they attempt to turn their fortunes around on the road against a Memphis Grizzlies team that has not lost a game since losing their star Ja Morant to a left knee sprain 2 weeks ago.
The return of Dillon Brooks has greatly helped the Grizzlies. He’s averaging 17 points per game while providing lockdown defense. Memphis has been winning games with defense. They have held their last four opponents to less than 92 points. The Grizzlies win streak also included an NBA-record 73 Point win against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
I like the Grizzlies to continue to their winning streak against a Dallas Mavericks team that is struggling with injury and has yet to put all the pieces together under new head coach Jason Kidd. The team is too reliant on Luka Doncic to score. The pairing of Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis has not yielded the fruits that the Mavericks expected when they swung the major trade two years ago.
A team that is still building its chemistry faces a team that knows their exact identity and is getting better every game. I like both teams’ respective streaks to continue and I expect the Memphis Grizzlies to cover the spread. Tonight’s Banker is Memphis Grizzlies -4.5.
Utah Jazz vs Minnesota Timberwolves
The Utah Jazz are one of the strongest teams in the league and are very adept at covering point spreads. Their 9.2 Point differential shows how they often win and win by margin. They head to Minnesota to take on the Timberwolves team that is trying to turn their culture around. The Timberwolves look very strong when fully healthy.
Unfortunately, the injury bug has bit the Timberwolves as of late and D’Angelo Russell and Karl Anthony Towns are both on the injuryreport. This bet is a double gamble! I am gambling that at least one of them plays, and then of course, that Minnesota can cover the spread.
I have been very impressed with Minnesota’s turnaround under head coach Chris Finch. I believe that Anthony Edwards has all the makings of a future MVP candidate. Edwards has emerged on both sides of the floor and D’Angelo Russell is becoming a solid defender to go with his already sharp offensive skills.
This Wolves team when fully healthy looks like they can make the playoffs for the first time in years. While the Jazz are formidable, I do believe that Grizzlies can at least keep this game within single digits. The first half of the two-team parlay is the Minnesota Timberwolves +9.5.
Orlando Magic vs Sacramento Kings
On the Banker I’m going to ride the streaks, but in this game,I’m going to go for the “Buy Low Sell High” strategy. The Magic have lost nine of their last 10 games and their most recent game they lost by 31 points. The Kings are riding high after two wins in a row. For the Kings, a two-game winning streak is an accomplishment to be celebrate. If you follow the Kings, you notice that they always have problems winning the games are supposed to win.
This is why they’ve never been able to become a legitimate team. I think this game tonight will be another example. They will have problems dominating the Magic the same way the Golden State Warriors did two nights ago. Both rosters are severely flawed. For the Kings to lay 7.5 points seems a bit too much; even with them playing better as of late. I expect the embarrassed Magic team to be professionals. They will turn it around and give a great effort tonight against a Sacramento team that has problems consistently winning games. The second half of my banker is Orlando Magic +7.5.
