What a great start to the week as we cashed the banker and the two-team parlay! Let’s try and carry that momentum and find more winners tonight.
San Antonio Spurs vs New York Knicks
This is a tough game to handicap because the Spurs are in a terrible situational spot. The Spurs played last night in Phoenix in a grueling, heartbreaking loss to the Suns. The Knicks have been off since Saturday night. So, the rest and fatigue greatly favors New York.
However, the Spurs are simply the much better team right now. The Knicks have problems with their identity right now. They’re not sure if they want to be a defensive-oriented team, or fully commit to an offensive explosion. Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau shortened the rotation, which can be good but can also disrupt team chemistry; especially when it comes to benching a popular player such as Kemba Walker. The Spurs play a deeper rotation in that could allow them to mitigate the fatigue accrued by all the games recently.
In spite of the fatigue, I do like the Spurs to get it done here tonight. The Knicks are having identity issues while the Spurs know exactly who they are. Today’s Banker is the San Antonio Spurs + 3.5.
Brooklyn Nets vs Dallas Mavericks
These are two teams that are both star heavy that lack depth. In this case however, I like the Nets’ stars more than the Maverick stars. There are very few times when Luka Doncic steps on the floor and is not the best player on the court. Unfortunately for him, tonight will be one of those nights when he squares off against Kevin Durant.
One of the major reasons that Kevin Durant is much better Luka is his ability to defend. Durant can be a very strong defender when he puts his mind to it while Luka has not yet shown that he can shut down the other team’s top offensive options. The Nets ability to step up their defense will be the difference in this one. I expect them to cover the spread against a flailing Mavericks team that has lost seven of its last nine. Take the best player in the league. Take Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets. The first half of our 2-team parlay is the Brooklyn Nets -2.5.
Boston Celtics vs Los Angeles Lakers
While I do believe the Lakers will be a strong team once the playoffs start, they are still struggling with the transition involved in all their new roster acquisitions. The Boston Celtics have been struggling without the play of star forward Jaylen Brown. But the Celtics are much more set in the ways of the team right now and are ready to get the win in this high-profile matchup. I also lean the under, but the recent spate of overs has kept me off that. Instead, I will add another short underdog as part of the two-team parlay. The second half of the 2-team parlay is the Boston Celtics +2.5.
