Every week, Southampton’s legend Matt Le Tissier will bring you his top 3 picks of the Premier League
Southampton vs. Burnley
Burnley remain one of the 3 EPL sides with no wins after 8 games. It’s true they played City last
weekend, but the confidence level is very low and Sean Dyche’s boys travel to play Southampton on
Saturday. This may not be a classic but it’s a crucial match mostly for the visitors. Of course, it is still
early days in what already promises to be an exciting season, but Burnley might be in trouble here.
Some players seem to just disappear off the face of the earth with Burnley being the second lowest
scorers in the league with only five league goals all season. Saints will be without James Ward-Prowse,
suspended but with Che Adams back. They picked up their 1 st win of the season last weekend, a short 1-
0 victory against Leeds but it’s very important to note that Leeds recorded 0 shots on target.
Saints might be a bit too short here but there’s still plenty on value on a home win.
My pick: Saints to win at 1.9 – Southampton vs. Burnley (1-0)
Leeds vs. Wolves
Leeds are missing in action… For a team with so much potential and we a great 2020/21 season, Leeds
are nowhere to be found. They won 1 single game this term, at home against Watford. Ok let’s give
them some credit because they were without 3 of their key players, Kalvin Phillips, Raphinha and Patrick
Bamford, who will all return to play Wolves.
It was about time for Wolves to start scoring goals. I really like Bruno Lage’s approach and tactics. They
scored 6 in 3 games and last weekend they came back from 2 goals down scoring 3 goals in the last 10
minutes of the game to beat Aston Villa on the road. I don’t want to risk an away win here, but I believe
Wolves can score 2 goals on their own against a shaky Leeds defense.
My Pick: Wolves Total Team Over 1.5 goals at 2.6 – Leeds vs Wolves (1-2)
Crystal Palace vs. Newcastle
Newcastle just sacked Steve Bruce with the Magpies left in 19th place following the 3-2 loss to
Tottenham. Paulo Fonseca who was previously in charge of Shakhtar Donetsk and AS Roma is in
advanced talks with Newcastle. Good move… bad move… we will see.
Christian Benteke’s confidence has been restored. He scored his 1 st goal of the season against Arsenal,
and he played really well. I’m expecting him to help his team again against a disjointed and manager-less
Newcastle. It’s time for the Eagles to win their 1 st match after 3 draws in a row.
My Pick: Crystal Palace to win at 1.9 – Crystal Palace vs. Newcastle (2-0)
